Benign Anorectal Disease Masteclass
3 Μαρτίου, 2017 @ 1:00 μμ - 4 Μαρτίου, 2017 @ 6:30 μμ100€
The field of Coloproctology has seen a steady increase over the last decade. Despite the focus on malignant disease and oncology, knowledge of benign disorders has expanded dramatically and a new array of treatment options has emerged. Treatment of functional, mechanical and organic anorectal disorders is being guided by the functional consequences of the proposed therapy.
Treatment of anorectal disorders requires very accurate preoperative assessments. Newer imaging techniques have become available to help the treating physician in his decisions. MRI, dynamic defecography, manometry, endorectal ultrasound… just to name a few of them. Nevertheless, this has come with a further challenge: surgeons and treating physicians need to know what to perform for which pathology and, more importantly, how to interpret the results. Moreover, functional disorders are now being managed with a multidisciplinary approach, including gastroenterology, urogynaecology and psychology.
The spectrum of anorectal disorders is not well known to the general surgeon, mainly because of its complexity but also due to its recent development. Aim of this course is to introduce surgeons to that specific field of colorectal surgery and make them aware of the different spectrum of disease and its diagnostic and therapeutic approach. An international group of experts with specific interests in the field comprise a highly specialized faculty, which over the course of the masterclass will introduce the delegates to various disorders of the anorectal canal, to the correct use of diagnostic modalities and, finally, to the different treatment options. Our aim is to advance the dialog between specialties and improve the outcomes of affected patients, by identifying a condition correctly and guiding the patient to a satisfying functional outcome.
This specialized masterclass will find place on the 3rd and 4th of March 2017 at the Interbalkan Medical Centre of Thessaloniki, a state-of-the-art modern hospital at a vibrant city of Northern Greece. Our goal is to repeat the course on a yearly basis.
